Rotary Round Walk 'n' Wheel - What Others Say About This project

Dr Jon Rees, Brockway Medical Centre, Nailsea

"Exercise is such an important part of good physical and mental health. Sometimes it can be hard to find suitable and simple exercise opportunities on your doorstep, especially if you have problems with your mobility - so this walk, starting in the heart of Nailsea (opposite Brockway Medical Centre!) is an excellent resource - thank you to Nailsea & Backwell Rotary Club".

John Oldham, Crossroads Care North Somerset

"Crossroads Care North Somerset fully supports the idea of a permanent, and accessible, walk, suitable for wheelchair users, and commends Nailsea and Backwell Rotary for devising the Rotary Round Wheel ‘n’ Walk. We will feature this, and promote it, in our Carers Link Magazine and encourage carers and their families (and others) to use it.”

Alison Morgan, access campaigner

"The Rotary Club has put together a 4km walk around Nailsea and Wraxall that is largely level on hard surfaces with dropped kerbs available at all road crossing points. There are no stairs, stiles or gates. These features make it an ideal route for many groups of people who may otherwise not be aware of the lovely pathways and views that can be seen within the town of Nailsea and across the countryside to Wraxall.
“You pass through woodland,  alongside an old quarry and a duck pond and see views across and down the valley of Wraxall towards Flax Bourton. You discover some of the hidden paths and roads around the area. You can enjoy this if you find hills difficult or if you have children in a pushchair or on scooters or small bikes.
"There are slopes here and there but they are modest. There is mud here and there but it is never too deep as to make it impassable. The ground is rough and uneven in places, however, I went round the route easily in my electric wheelchair.  I have completed the route twice with Rotarian David in January and October 2013, each time after a lot of rain, and have found it very enjoyable.”

Tower House Medical Centre

“Exercise that you can do every day is good for your overall health and sense of well-being. This Rotary Round Walk 'n' Wheel provides a gentle form of exercise, whether you are a good walker or need to use a wheelchair to get about; it's also free and it's local.”

Maggie Parnell, Nailsea Disability Initiative

“Thank you Rotary for Wheel'n'Walk. It's so good to have a truly inclusive opportunity to enjoy our local environment that everyone can take part in, regardless of mobility. Keep up the good work!”

Petra Littlefair, St Peter’s Hospice

"Rotary Round Walk 'n' Wheel  is such a fab idea and we are so delighted to be supporting it! Maybe you could do the walk with your friends and family?”
