Young Chef 2014

Rotarian Jeremy Ellis did his usual impeccable job and organised the 2014 Young Chef event on 27 January.

Young Chef at its best

The local final was held at the Royal Grammar School on Monday 27th January with David Hill ( Chef and owner of the King William IV at Speen ) acting as the judge, ably assisted by Chief Taster Rotarian Geoff Rysdale (see the picture below).

Each year the standard gets better and better, this year being no exception.

The winner was Abi Pinner from Wycombe High School with her three course menu of:
  • Halloumi cheese with a lime, coriander and caper vinaigrette and rocket salad, followed by
  • Fillet crusted sea bass on a pea, potato and bacon fricassee, finishing with a dessert of
  • A trio of rustic French macaroons.
In second place was Rachael Harnby from Beaconsfield School and in third place Avani Bains from Holmer Green Senior School.

Abi Pinner now has the opportunity to go forward to the Rotary District Finals.

Because of the restricted space in the kitchen, Young Chef is not watched by an audience (perhaps we should make a video recording to publish here?) but here are some pictures:

The young chefs beaver away.

The judges take their tasting very seriously.

President Humphrey Creed presents Abi with her prize.
