This family service is the final event of our "Peace Weekend".
There is an open invitation to all to attend a relaxed family service at the St Helier Methodist Centre. Revd Zihle will be leading the service with Revd Tony Morling, assisted by their wives, Mmasape & Cathy, and afterwards all will have the opportunity to meet and speak with them at a faith lunch in the Centre. Do bring along a contribution of food that can be shared around all attending.
One of the features of the service will be children making paper cranes in memory of a Japanese girl, Sadako, from Hiroshima. Sadako died, age 12, in 1955 from exposure to radiation from the atomic bomb. Her classmates folded 1000 paper cranes and these were buried with her. Her friends raised funds throughout Japan to build a Peace Monument to her in the Hiroshima Peace Park. A picture of this monument can be seen below.
