Visit to West Yorkshire Archives

A party of Rotarians visited the new West Yorkshire Archive Service for Leeds in Morley on Thursday 6th February 2014.

James Mounty led a party of Rotarians on Thursday 6th February to the new West Yorkshire Archive Service for Leeds now based in Morley. After a welcome cup of tea we were shown a fascinating file of the Club's own archive, some of which is held by the service.

We were then given a talk by Carl Kenneally, Archivist, who outlined to us the work of the Leeds Archive Service in particular and that of the other offices located throughout the County in Bradford, Calderdale and Wakefield and forthcoming developments.

The West Yorkshire Archive services collects and looks after the unique documentary heritage of the region and helps members of the public use and enjoy these records by offering a free public service.
They collect and preserve millions of records of all kinds dating from the 12th centuary to present day
