Each year we are delighted to welcome a large number of contestants to the Music Competition, and each year we are rewarded with excellent performances from those that compete. It is therefore gratifying to know that this may be the stepping stone to even greater heights, as is evidenced by the success of previous competition winners:
Peter Moore, who won the 2003 competition went on to win the 2012 BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition and subsequently became the youngest musician ever to be employed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
The winner of the Primary Musician of 2004 Competition, pianist Sean Rooney, has gone on to great success while a student at the Royal Academy of Music by winning the Hibernian Orchestra Concerto Competition 2013 in Dublin.
Concert pianist Rowel Friers has recently been invited at the age of just 15 to play at Carnegie Hall in New York.
The Rotary Club of North Down wishes all of its competition entrants every success in their subsequent musical development.
