WW11 Ilford Railway accident in 1944

Ron Geggus  our esteemed Speaker Secretary managed to book himself in on the same date. His talk was about the dreadful railcrash at Ilford Station in 1944 which has left him with unforgettable images to this day.

In thick fog 2 trains collided at the station leaving many dead and hundreds injured. Ron was waiting at the station to travel into London when the accident occurred and found himself rescuing many injured passengers and witnessing many of the dead and trapped passengers whilst waiting for the emergency services to arrive. They of course took a deal of time to arrive due to the thick fog.

At Rotary lunch on the 20th March our web master Colin managed to get tomato sauce all over his suit jacket!
