Training of Dental Workers In Tanzania

Bridge2Aid is a dental charity that provides training in oral pain relief to clinical officers in rural Tanzania, where there is just one dentist to every one million people and negligible access to emergency dental treatment.  This was the issue presented by Lincoln Dentist Barry Devonald when he spoke to Lindum Rotary in early 2013.

Using UK volunteer dentists and nurses, Bridge2Aid trains local clinical officers with the skills to address this need themselves.  To date this charity has trained over 300 officers bringing pain relief to over three million people.  Very many of the patients treated have been in pain and infected for over a  year, and the consequences of not being able to work and provide for their families are enormous and in some cases cause death.
