Wed 7th May 2014 at 17.30 - 19.30
At All Saints Parish Church Hall
The Membership Team assisted by the Public Relations Team and Rotary Foundation Officer of the Rotary Club of Fleet, held a New Members Event at the All Saints Parish Hall, Fleet Road, Fleet on 7th May between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
Attendees were invited from the local business community and residents of the Fleet area. The evening was arranged to promote the Rotary Club of Fleet and encourage interest in joining the organisation.
The hall was laid out with display boards detailing the work of Rotary in Fleet and around the world, with a full complement of Rotary explanatory leaflets and journals. The Rotarians were able to explain to attendees the many projects the club has undertaken recently and some of the causes that our support of Rotary Foundation has been used to achieve. A video display unit showed a short presentation on the world of Rotary. We were very fortunate to be able to present a demonstration of the Shelter Box by Tim Vile from Farnborough Rotary and a Co-ordinator for the Charity. The Shelter Boxes provide the items necessary to sustain a family in a disaster region. The Box contains tent, which was fully erected in the hall. The attendees were able to step inside the tent and also view the equipment sent in the box.
The attendees were able to discuss with Rotarians what is involved in being part of the Rotary movement over light refreshments.
Rotary is not a business, is not corporate and is a philanthropic voluntary organisation based around fellowship and socialising amongst Rotarians. This engenders a culture of good friends supporting good and worthy causes.
