Visitor's Host Alan Rankin

STIRLING ROTARY Junior Vice President Alan Rankin welcomed members and visitor John Ford from Strathendrick Rotary Club and speaker Stewart Cameron to the Friday lunch Meeting, to talk on the success of ClubGolf since the first announcement The Ryder Cup would be held in the Home of Golf. Before this Past President John Rankin reported on our Club's own Golf success in claiming back the Fellowship Cup against local rivals Carse of Stirling Rotary Club. Also John reported on the completion of our Club's Golf Outings for 2014 following last Wednesday's Autumn visit to Balmore golf Club where President David Paterson won on the day but Past President Alan Skilling won the 2014 Quaich based on the best scores on 2 out the 3 Outings held. Stewart then entertained us with his enthusiastic talk on both how golf had made a positive difference to his life and how Club Golf has encouraged Scottish schoolchildren to try the game of golf. Stewart's own Golf Club, Bridge of Allan, sought grants from Sport Scotland, and others, to build facilities suitable not only for members but importantly to support the efforts of Club Golf, managed by the Scottish Golf Union and backed by the Scottish Government, in their tremendous support for Junior golfers, and indeed this has now been extended to adults wishing to take up golf. Stewart who is a level 2 golf coach last Wednesday took 9 very happy Juniors with another coach to The Ryder Cup. Past President, Frank Kelly, gave the Vote of Thanks to Stewart which was very well supported.

Next week's Speakers' Host is Rotarian Elspeth King and Visitors Host is Past President, Tommy Thomson.
