Meeting of the Rotary club of Stirling 24/11/14.

President David Paterson in the chair, opened the meeting by reporting a
request from Assistant DG John Anderson for support for the Nyambani
HIV/Aids orphans complex in Kenya. Rotarian Alison Steadman gave a
presentation on this at the recent district conference in Dunblane, and
arising from this John Anderson is going to Kenya as part of a working
party in February 2015.Each day 300 to 400 children die in Kenya from
this disease. The club agreed to make a financial contribution towards
the running of this worthy charity.
Stewart Wilson reported that he had delivered our shoe boxes to Perth
for onward transmission. A total of 130 had been collected of which
Allans School and Riverside school had contributed 100 between them.
Even better both schools are keen to continue their support next year.
Sandy Leven asked for our support in putting up the Xmas decorations
at Stirling station.
Our speaker was Philip Allison talking about the second half of his
holiday in New Zealand. During this trip he met up with Stewart Wilson
who was cycling round New Zealand at the same time and was not unhappy to have a days rest. Philip gave a strong impression of his great love of New Zealand, it's mountains rivers and of course it's many golf
courses. During his visits he has made many new friends and been able to
renew many old acquaintances.  The vote of thanks was given by President David.
The president's night is on Thursday 4thNovember 7 for 7.30 at the Park
Lodge hotel. Because of this THERE WILL BE NO MEETING AT THE GOLDEN LION ON FRIDAY 5th November.
Our next meeting will be on 12/12/14 . Speaker's host Sandy Morrison,
