President Edward had chosen the following two charities to be the 'President's Charities' for his year 2013-14.
The Stable Family Home Trust. The Stable Family Home Trust provides a range of services to support people with a learning disability to lead fulfilled and active lives. They support people to be valued members within their local community, ensuring that they have opportunities for a good social life, support to make and maintain friendships and relationships and help to find meaningful occupation, learning and employment.
The Minstead Training Trust. Madeleine Durie, Project Director of the Trust ahs explained "The Minstead Training Trust supports nearly 100 adults with learning disabilities in the New Forest and surrounding areas. At our heart is the belief that people with learning disabilities can achieve greater independence and self-worth and live as full citizens in our society. Our role is to support people to achieve that by delivering personalised training and support in an inspirational setting. We are lucky enough to be based in the heart of the New Forest and offer a wide range of residential, day and community based activities. We work closely with our sister charity, Furzey Gardens where our students put into practise their learned horticultural skills to help maintain the gardens which are open to the public."
The Rotary Club decided to donate the proceeds of the collections held at Christmas at Asda and Morrisons equally between the two charities.
