Sporting success for Fleet Rotarians

During the many years when our Rotary Club have entered Teams into the various District Sports Competitions, our success has been limited.

However, in 2014, Rod Cutler and Geoff Sumner won the District Table Tennis competition. This is the first time the Rotary Club of Fleet have entered a team in this event and with the popularity of the event  and other local Rotary Club entrants, the Fleet Team fought through five knock- out rounds before defeating Woking  Rotary Club in the final. Such was the dominance and skill of our team that they did not lose a single game and therefore won quite comfortably.  Well done Geoff and Rod

Fleet Rotary golfers have also been busy during this wonderful weather. A total of eight members took part in The Presidents Trophy at the Army Golf Club, Aldershot.  It was very competitive with the eventual winner being John Johnstone with 36 points and Geoff Sumner was second.   John was presented with the Trophy by President Lorna.  There was another close event held a few days later when Rod Cutler and Geoff Sumner took on two golfers from Basingstoke in the Ron Harwood Cup competition.  It was all square at the 18th hole.  This meant a sudden death playoff with whoever won the next hole being the winners, unfortunately Basingstoke took the honours.
