Southwell Walk & Fellowship
Mansfield Rotary's annual fellowship walk
On June 8th, 23 Rotarians and partners (human and canine) enjoyed one of two walks around Southwell, one of 5 miles and one of 8 1/2 miles.
Starting at Brackenhurst Agricultural Institute in glorious sunshine, we walked through lush farmland following in the path of Charles 1st as he approached the King's Head, now the Saracen's Head, and his execution by the Parliamentarians in May 1646. In and around Southwell we took in the Romanesque 'Minster', Queen Ann and Georgian Prebendary houses, Cauldwell Floor Mill, Maythorne Silk Mill, the ancient Deer Park of Norwood and Westhorpe Dumble before returning to Brackenhurst.
Our thirsts were quenched and stomachs well filled by Will and Lisa at the Hearty Good Fellow in Southwell.
