Club Meeting 1pm — Derek Hall

Tue, Sep 23rd 2014 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Derek Hall spoke on the topic 'What's wrong with France?', and Bryan Wight proposed the vote of thanks.

President Bill Deans welcomed 13 other members, and announced that, because of unavoidable delays in confirming the catering, the 50th anniversary dinner will be postponed until mid-November. He said that he was meeting the Yacht Club Commodore after lunch to discuss the future arrangements for club lunches.

A sheet was passed round for members able to attend next Monday's Helensburgh Garelochside club meeting in the Rosslea Hall Hotel, Rhu, at 6.15pm when the Rotary Youth Leadership Award attendees selected by the clubs will give a presentation on the camp they attended at Auchengillan in July.

Derek Hall spoke about his 50-year love affair with France, from camping holidays to owning a holiday home in the south of France, and spoke about how the French were disparaging about their own country. However, a second glass of rose always makes Derek appreciate its virtues
