Club Meeting 1pm — Douglas Dow

Tue, Oct 21st 2014 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Douglas Dow was the speaker, and Graham Smith gave the vote of thanks.

The meeting was chaired by President Bill Deans who welcomed twelve other members.

The speaker was Douglas Dow who gave a very interesting account of his recent trip to the USA and some Civil War eastern battlefield sites. He and his wife Alice were in a party of 41 doing the tour, and there were a plenty of amusing, interesting and touching stories from the trip.

Douglas pointed out that this was not ancient history, occurring as it did in the 1860s, with photography. Many Americans of members ages would have had grandparents who had known people with first hand knowledge and experiences of this time.

The vote of thanks was given by Graham Smith, and the weekly draw for the whisky miniature was won by honorary member David Arthur.
