Club Meeting 1pm — District Governor's visit

District Governor John Waddell paid an official visit to the club.


President Bill Deans welcomed 14 other members and guest District Governor John Waddell, who was paying an official visit to the club. He announced that all was in place for the black tie 50th anniversary dinner on Thursday at 7 for 7.30pm, with 57 attending.

Derek Hall gave details of the club trip to Barcelona, which will take place from April 23-26. In the party are Bill and Lynda Deans, Lesley Kennedy, Douglas and Alice Dow, Donald and Phyllis Fullarton, Derek and Fiona Hall, Bryan and Linda Wight, and Alastair and Janette Wilson.

District Governor John presented the R.I. 2014-15 banner to the club, and said that the district focus this year was on maintaining and if possible increasing membership, good PR through local media raising awareness of rotary, and corporate partnerships to fund and assist projects. He also suggested the club organise a 'Rotary Day' to raise both funds for Foundation and awareness, and passed round an ingenious new lamp in a bag to be included in Shelterboxes.

President Bill proposed the vote of thanks, and the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Graham Smith. Lesley Kennedy passed round pieces of her 70th birthday cake.
