ROTARY CLUB OF ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT AND DISTRICT
CLUB COUNCIL MINUTES

MINUTES of the meeting held on Monday 2 March 2015 at 7.00pm at Lower Hook Farm.

Present
President John, JVP Frank, PDG, IPP & YC Dave, ISCC Catherine, C&VSCC Allison, Sports Officer Derek, Mike and Secretary John.  Terry Penhall attended.

Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 2 February 2015, having been circulated, were approved and signed.
Matters arising: None.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
President John reported that he attended three committee meetings in February.
The Evening Meeting on the 25 February was well attended and the Speaker Alan Nix MBE, entertained with his experience during World War 2 when he was evacuated.
The Rotary Club of Swindon Old Town are holding their 25th Anniversary of Charter Dinner at the Marsh Farm Hotel on Friday 20th March and support from our Club would be appreciated.

TREASURER'S REPORT
In the absence of Treasurer Phil, Terry reported the following balances for February 2015.
Current Account: £4,065.00
Charity Trust Fund: £11,446.00

COMMITTEE REPORTS

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES

In the absence of President Elect Anthony JVP Frank reported on:

  • the A to Z of Rotary, the 40th Anniversary of Charter Dinner;
  • the visit of the Rotary Club of Kalundborg in September - coach hire costs from Heathrow to Royal Wootton Bassett and return have been obtained as an alternative to using cars to collect our guests;
  • Membership; update on 2015 Projects; in the absence of Treasurer Phil there was not a Financial Report; the Scatter Week in April; a Diary showing coming events.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

ISCC Catherine reported on:

  • the cost of sending materials and the paperwork involved in sending items collected for the Calabash Trust - other options are to be discussed with Keith;
  • a Bingo Evening will be held in the Autumn and a person has been found who can run the evening and provide the necessary equipment.
  • The Committee will give full support to all Club events.
  • The Committee are looking into the Club's history and will ask all members for their help.
  • Membership also was discussed.

COMMUNITY AND VOCATIONAL SERVICE

C&VSCC Allison reported on:

  • the Community Cinema and possible screening at Lyneham Village Hall and there is an additional screening for RWB Academy Students on 5 March which will be in aid of Alzheimer's Society;
  • the RWB Arts Society;
  • the Visiting Service;
  • the Wiltshire Walking Festival.

YOUTH SERVICE

Youth Chairman, PDG and IPP Dave reported on:

  • RYLA - no candidate from the Academy and the Scouts to be contacted.
  • Young Citizen's Award - no candidate
  • School Quiz - 8 teams have entered
  • Young Writer - senior entry through to the National final
  • Young Photographer - unsuccessful at District;
  • Youth Challenge - a meeting has been held with the RC of RWB Town. Four teams ave entered so far. The event will be held indoors at the Academy on the 26 April 2015.

Nothing to report.

PROJECTS

JVP Frank reported on Projects in his report for Membership and Administration.

CHARITY RUN

President John reported that the entry fee will be on line; sponsorship is being sought; there will be press publicity; the start on the 18 October will be at 10.00 am and more stewards will be needed.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

CHARITABLE GIVING - LOCAL CHARITIES

A long discussion was held covering all 17 requests and the following donations are recommended by Club Council.

  • Life Education Centre Wiltshire - £2,000.00.
  • Royal Wootton Bassett Contact the Elderly - £500.00.
  • Royal Wootton Bassett Amateur Swimming and Lifesaving Club - £250.00.
  • Royal Wootton Bassett Guides - £200.00.
  • Longleaze Pre-School and Nursery - £200.00.
  • Royal Wootton Bassett Junior Netball Club - £250.00 plus cost of logos.
  • Wiltshire Portage - £500.00.
  • Link Schemes - total £300.00 (Link 6 £200.00)
  • RWB Arts Festival - £200.00.
  • RWB Community Magazine - £200.00.
  • HMS Turbulence - £100.00.
  • Youth Challenge - £600.00.

The target date for completing the first draft of Set-up Process Documents for all Club Events will be 31.3.2015.

Monday 30 March 2015 at 7.30 pm at Lower Hook Farm.
