12:30 Lunch Meeting - Marc Jones Grimsby Conservative Candidate

Wed, Jan 21st 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

President Ian welcomes Marc Jones to the meeting

Marc, Chairman of Lincoln Conservative Association and Lincolnshire County Councillor, has been chosen as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for this year's General Election in Great Grimsby.

At today's meeting, Marc gave a very insightful talk about the complex route that has to be taken by anybody seeking to become a Parliamentary Candidate.

Although Mark was brought up in Lincoln, he was actually born in East Marsh, Grimsby and one would have thought his selection as the Grimsby Candidate would have been virtually automatic. However this was not so, as he had to follow a lengthy process involving pre-interviews, Assessment Boards (where he was grilled about a number of disciplines), being short listed via the "sift" and final selection interviews here in Grimsby.

Although Marc's talk was not politically orientated, he came over as a strong Parliamentary Candidate and his presentation was well received.
