Lunch Meeting - Matthew Grove, Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner

President Ian Birrell welcomes Matthew Gove to the meeting

Today's talk was by Matthew Grove the Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside Police. He is the first person to hold the post, being elected on 15 November 2012.

Matthew commenced his talk by paying tribute to Rotary International, having been involved personally with Roteract in his youth he experienced and participated in many community activities. He also congratulated the club for its local activity and charity support.

Matthew then talked about some of the issues and concerns he currently working on, firstly the re-design of Humberside Police Forces in order to provide structure, management and resource levels to match the community crime demand profile. Secondly, the challenges faced by the Police, Ambulance Services and Hospital A&E departments caused by heavy drinking, discussing the possible solutions and finally his concerns about the policy for dealing with unauthorised traveller encampments In the Humberside area.

Matthew's talk was insightful and it is clear that many challenges lay ahead. We thanked him for finding the time to come and speak to us and we wish him well in his endeavours.
