Today's speaker was Lauren alexander from St Andrew's Hospice. Lauren brought us up to date with the developments of the new build. This has been completed and there will be three phases. The Community Hub, which includes the new bedrooms, and they have been increased from 8 to 12 with ensuite facilities. It is open to the community team and has a restaurant. This is operational throught the day and is open to the public. There is a new computer tracking system for nurses. The second phase is the Well Being Centre with the usual facilites including complemetary therapies. This phase includes demolition of the former hospice bedrooms. Lauren also talked about the Children's Hospice and that they can deal with not only with children but also with that transitional phase for example with 15 year olds (there are two beds allocated). There were a number of questions and we said that we had supported the Hospice in the past and would continue to do so.
