Lakes Weekend

Fri, Sep 19th 2014 at 4:00 pm- Sun, Sep 21st 2014 - 4:00 pm

Nineteen Rotarians, wives, family and friends again stayed at the Damson Dene Hotel for a weekend of fun, fellowship, food, retail therapy and a little walking. A great time was had by all in magnificent warm, sunny weather.

The first evening was spent settling in after an enjoyable meal.  On Saturday morning 11 of us travelled to Sizergh Castle where we had coffee.  A shortish walk followed, ending up back at Sizergh Castle for lunch.  In the afternoon we did another modest walk before returning to Damson Dene for relaxation.  The evening saw us tucking in to a large, tasty meal.  This was followed by a difficult quiz set by Peter Calvert, with one of his family in the winning team.

Sunday saw us taking to the road again to travel up the Kentmere Valley, where we parked and six of us took a more strenuous walk up the valley.  The weather on both days could not have been better.

Following afternoon tea, some of us travelled home, leaving the rest to enjoy another night at the hotel, before they set off for home.  Altogether another great weekend, which we vowed to repeat next year.
