Summer Fayre and Duck Race 2014

Summer Fayre and Duck Race 28th June 2014

The Royal Windsor Mid Summer Fayre & Duck Race took place on Sat 28th of June 2014.

The event is organised by The Rotary Club of Windsor & Eton in association with The Windsor & Eton Town Partnership & King Edward Court. Forty local charities and organisations had stalls at The Fayre enabling most of them to raise a few hundred pounds each. Windsor Upper School Band played and Zumba classes took place. The New Junior Rotary Club members from Windsor Girls school had a stall doing face painting & their duck race art competition - raising money for their International Project in Equator. The Deputy Mayor of The Royal Borough James Evans opened the Fayre together with Kevin Cruise from Britain's got Talent & Windsor Theatre Panto.

Despite the poor weather ( for most of the day) we did get a break in the weather when the Duck race started, and with the added benefit  of Kevin Cruise  from Theatre Royal as co host, we did see another great race. Paul Roach said on behalf of the Partnership I would like to thank  the Windsor and Eton Rotary Club and its members and the continued support of main sponsors King Edward Court.

We sold over 83 business ducks for the day and Shanly Group our fellow board member came out as winners for the day, so congratulations  to them. Also thank you to our other board members who contributed to the sponsoring ducks for the day whom included Legoland,  Signature, Eton College, Castle Hotel and  Daniels

First Prize of 500 was won by Rebecca Cutter aged 35 - who lives in Eton Wick & has entered for all the six years The Duck Race has been going & is very pleased indeed to have been successful this time !

2nd Prize was won by D Gorton from Hereford.

About 12,000 will be raised on the day for local charities. The Duck race will raise about 3000 & 50% of this will go to The Windsor & Eton Christmas Light Fund to improve the visitor experience at Christmas in Windsor & Eton.

Last year brand new lights were purchased for Peascod Street.
