Young Chef - 2015

Pupils from Oakmeeds Community College take part in the Rotary Young Chef competition.

Competitors receive their 'whites' from the UK Cookshop Burgess Hill.

7 students from Oakmeeds Community College took part in the Burgess Hill heat of the Rotary Young Chef Competition on 23 October 2014.  5 girls and 2 boys competed by each cooking a 2 course meal for 2 people with a budget of 15.

The standard was high and judges, Catherine Philpots and Dan Hockaday, owner and head chef of the award winning Coach and Horses pub in Danehill, had a difficult task deciding the winner and runner up.  The winner Ella Ward (Year 10) and runner up Scott Martin (Year 11) have the opportunity of cooking in the professional kitchen at the Coach and Horses prior to competing in the District 1250 Semi Final.  Out thanks to Catherine and Dan for supporting this event.

All contestants were presented with professional chef's whites by UK Cookshop, Burgess Hill, and our thanks go to Nikki Sharp for supporting this event.

Awards were presented by Oakmeeds Head Teacher Colin Taylor and Burgess Hill Town Mayor Anne Jones.
