Annual Charity Golf Day Raises over £7,000

Thu, Jul 16th 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

The 12th annual Charity Golf Day was held at Kenwick Park on 16 July raising an impressive £7000.  President Gordon Bulter had nominated Harbour Place Day Centre and Grimsby Sea Cadets as the main beneficiaries with Chairman of Harbour Place, Fred Brown receiving a cheque on the day.  Over 12 years the event has raised the magnificent sum of over £73,000, principally for local charities.

The event was supported by 30 teams. On a nice sunny day and with the course in excellent condition, several good scores were posted.  Some impressive golf was seen on the course with Ian Lord getting a hole in one on the 2nd and Janice Beardsley winning nearest the pin on both the 2nd and 12th holes. Light refreshments at the halfway house were welcome with Pimm’s being in high demand!

At the end of play all enjoyed an excellent meal and President Gordon, on behalf of Grimsby Rotary Club, thanked the main sponsors Lexus (Hull) and Associated British Ports who have supported the event from the start, the many other sponsors who also have given regular support and the teams of golfers who made the day such a great golfing and financial success.

A big thank you goes to Stuart Falconer, Dennis Dunn and the Rotary Team for their efforts in organising the day:
