Once again, the Club is collecting for the "Mayors Fund for the Housebound at Christmas" and Rotary Charities with its Carol Float. The float has been a familiar site for many years in Abington Street, although it has morphed in the last couple of years from a nativity scene, to Santa popping up and down in a chimney!
Last year the Club donated 3,500 towards the fund, which has helped it provide a Christmas Card and 25 each to nearly 300 deserving people in Northampton, who are on their own and housebound at Christmas. To qualify as "housebound" a person has to be confined to their home or unable to get out without assistance, due to illness or disability and in financial need.
The Club has been proud to be associated with the Mayor's Fund for 92 years and the photograph is of the current Mayor and Mayoress of Northampton, Councillor John Caswell and Mrs Cheryl Caswell with Rotarian David Harrop in front of the float. Money collected this year will be presented to the Mayor in January, and will help to provide a card and cash present to the housebound in Northampton for Christmas 2015
