Wine expert Martin Ogilvie presented the club with an excellent wine tasting. With the aid of a number of slides, he talked about wine generally and in particular the six wines Club members and guests were about to taste.
He explained that wine used to be produced in Europe only but is now produced all over the world, though France and Italy are still the largest wine producing countries.
There was a real international flavour in the wines Malcolm let us taste. There was a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a Pinot Grigio from Italy, a Chardonnay from Australia, a Claret from France, a Rioja from Spain, and a Malbec from Argentina. Malcolm stated that not everyone would like all the wines but most people thought that, in general, they were excellent. He advised that most of them had a retail price of around £10 a bottle.
A vote of thanks was given by Fraser Marshall.
