The MOW (meals on Wheels) rota is running well and Rob Fry continues to email information re the involvement of students each week, which is then pass on to the member(s) doing the round. Club members have also taken up roles on the MOW managing committee.

Club members are continuing to support reading in Aberaeron Primary School. The school values the support and the progress the children are making

Community Services Report 11th February

The MOW rota is running well and Rob Fry continues to email me information re the involvement of students each week, which I then pass on to the member(s) doing the rota. Rob’s involvement is invaluable, as it ensures the involvement of the school.

A new rota is agreed every two months and is circulated by email to all club members. The current rota runs out at the end of February and the March and April rota will be finalised during the club meeting on 18th February.

Community Services 3 February 2016

Rotary Members are still operating one to one reading sessions with pupils at Aberaeron Primary School twice a week as well as taking part in a ‘Meals on Wheels’ service. At the moment we are in the process of organising a beach clean-up in conjunction with Ysgol Gynradd Aberaeron which should take place during March.

BEACH LITTER PICK 13/05/2015

On Tuesday 12th May, 2015,  8 of our members joined children and staff from Aberaeron Junior School and Aberaeron County High School on south beach Aberaeron. This was for a litter pick in support of the Pride of Wales initiative. With more than a little wind behind us the task was achieved in about one and a half hours. Plenty of sacks filled with plastic bottles; cans; papers and wrappers; nylon netting and rope; and rubber drive belts.

This year the Club has become involved in a reading scheme at Aberaeron Junior School. Three of our members, Elaine Bradshaw, Roger & Gaby Staite give their time freely to listen to the children read and help them to improve their ability.

Shortly the team should be increased by a further club member joining them.
