Meetings

These are the main social activities of meetings, guests can attend most types of meeting and enjoy the interesting speeches and entertainment. All meetings unless otherwise stated start at 6:30 for 7:00 on the 3rd Thursday of the month. All meetings come with a meal, the majority of meetings have two courses (Main meals and Deserts plus tea or coffee). The venue has a bar & licence so there is a variety of drinks available

There are four differing types:

The Charter

This is the Club's Birthday celebration. We invite Rotarians,  Rotarians from other clubs, the District Governor of Rotary District 1220 (our district), members of the Inner Wheel, members of Interact, members of other local service organisations and guests to celebrate the birthday of the Rotary Club of Swadlincote. Our next "Birthday" celebration will be on Thursday 21st February 2019.

Rotarians and Friends

This is where we invite Rotarians, members of the Inner Wheel, members of Interact and guests join us in a meeting which represents the true values of Rotary. We usually would have a speaker or an activity such as the annual Rotary and Inner Wheel quiz.

Rotarian/Guest Speaker Activity evening

This is where we invite a Rotarian or a guest speaker to talk about a subject close to their heart, some are charities explaining their work and explaining asking Rotary to help them, other times it is about specific subjects such as the Bayeux tapestry, Coal Washing, a visit from the local MP etc. as well as the Christmas Message and the Christmas performance which is written and performed by the Rotarians.

Business meetings and assemblies

These are normal meetings which have no speaker, the sole purpose of these evenings in the events and activities of the club as well as a review of the council minutes. Specific business meetings include the SGM, the AGM and club assembly.
