Swings and Roundabouts

The Rotary Club of Rainhill have provided full funding for a play area at a centre for abandoned and handicapped children in Onesti, Romania and in addition the club are looking to fund the upkeep of this play area so as to give it a long lease of life and provide years of enjoyment for these poor children. The club also paid for a urgently needed wheel chair for one of the handicapped children.

This centre which is occupied mainly by boys is funded by an organisation called "Foundation for a Better Life"  (Fundatia pentru un viitor mai bun) and a leading light in that organisation is a resident of  Eccelston, St Helens, Mr John Leake  MBE.

These children, as with many children in other parts of the world, would be deprived of any quality of life or any education without the support of organisations like Foundation for a Better Life.

The organisation looks to give financial and practical support to the Orphanages for the abandoned handicapped children, help individual cases of hardship, support young people to access further education and to enhance the education of the pupils of poor village schools.

Over the years this organisation has been funded through kind donations from local churches schools, individuals, friends and family and organisations such as Rotary.

John Leake said. " I suppose its all about giving life chances to those less fortunate than us". and as Alan Buckley Chair of International at the Rotary Club of Rainhill says, " Rotary  is all about  helping to transform the lives of people in desperate need.
