The speaker on Tuesday 1st December, was introduced by Gordon Mackie. He was James Coy and his topic was:-
Modern Slavery: Removing the Blindfold
James was appointed as the North Wales Regional Anti-Slavery Co-ordinator (the first of its kind in the UK) on 4th November 2013, having retired from North Wales Police in May that year.
North. Wales became the first region of the UK to formalise a publicly funded, multi-agency response to slavery in all of its forms. Mr. Coy outlined what slavery looks like in 21stCentury Wales, and then described their strategy for tackling it.
It may be surprising to many but it is a sad fact this heinous crime is taking place here and now in Wales, and in the 21st Century.
The vote of thanks was given by Bryan Davies
