This is Gryffe Valley's biggest project to date. Thanks to the generosity of a number of trusts and other organisations, the proceeds of last years 10K run and the hard work of members and others, something over 31,000 has been raised to purchase a special roll on/roll off power boat which will enable those who are confined to a wheelchair to get out onto the water at Castle Semple Loch. This follows on from previous projects to supply a special hoist to transfer sailors from a wheelchair into a dinghy and the supply of a specially adapted dinghy.
Many thanks to all those who submitted potential names for the new boat. The name selection panel had to consider around 75 suggestions before deciding that DISCOVERY was the most appropriate. This was a joint suggestion from 2 ladies at Quarriers, namely Sandra Bao: Learning and Talent Development Advisor and Carol Russell: Head of Adult Services,
The boat promises years of exhilierating fun and adventure for those much less fortunate than most of us.
