Stroke Awareness 2015

Stroke Awareness Day on Saturday 25th April at the Tesco store in the town.

The Rotary Club of Ellesmere organised a Stroke Awareness Day on Saturday 25th April at the Tesco store in the town, as a part of a major drive by Rotary Clubs in the region to promote preventative health measures.  A hardworking team of medical volunteers took blood pressure readings and gave out further advice and information to members of the public.  Volunteers included Mr Ian Williams of First Responders,  Alan Hickman of West Midlands Ambulance Service, Jodie Rogers from the Orthopaedic Hospital at Gobowen, Ashleigh Penrose from the Medical Department at Bangor University plus Vickki Jones and Ashleigh Rowe from Rowlands Pharmacy, along with their mascot, Rowland Owl (Tracy Jones).

The team took ninety one individual readings, with twenty seven advised to make a routine appointment with their GP; whilst, happily, no on raised any urgent concerns. Ellesmere Rotary Club is very grateful for the support given to this event by our local Tesco’s branch and its staff, as well as to all the dedicated volunteers that made the day such a success.
