On Tuesday 22nd March club members Margaret/Ian Trevette, recently returned from their annual visit to Cape Town, presented a synopsis of their trip.
Following images of Cape Town, a very wealth city, it’s architecture much influenced by British colonial rule and now much visited by holiday makers, was an address about the pre - school crèche. in the township of Kylesia - Ilitha Educare.
A 3 room school was founded by Christine Jita and it rose out of the dust to transform hopelessness into promise. She found enormous help from Gavin Schachar and the Rotary Club of Sea Point. Four Rotary clubs in Korea donated $18,000 to help build 2 additional classrooms.
A cheque, from the Rotary Club of Llandudno, towards the erection of a security fence around the school, has been presented to the President of the Rotary Club of Sea Point .
