Young Musician of the Year

A Competition organised by our District 1220 in which budding instrumentalists and singers in different age categories compete for the District title through heats and finals. Winners can go forward to the national Rotary finals. The Club aims to find and support one or two entrants from Rotherham, having had some success in previous years. Anyone aged under 18 interested in entering should use the contact form below. More details: click link above.

Youth Speaks

This Competition encourages speaking and presentation skills in 11 to 17 year olds, for teams of three in two age categories. Again the format is a District competition followed by national finals. The Club aims to find a team to represent Rotherham, and, if you are interested, click the above link for full details then use the form below.

Young Chef of the Year

It is hoped to revive the Young Chef competition in conjuction with Rotherham College. Previously this has been organised as a local competition for teams of College students.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

This is a leadership development program which focuses on secondary school students, university students, or young professionals. RYLA events are typically 310 days long and cover a variety of topics including:

Leadership fundamentals and ethics
Communication skills
Problem solving and conflict management
Community and global citizenship

In 2015 and 2016 the Club chose two young people to participate in the event at Castleton Rotary Camp in February. Although the Club is not involved in activities, members provided transport for the students. The students afterwards gave a presentation at a club meeting showing how they had benfited from the event.
