Thursday 18th June was an extremely busy day for our District Governor Keith Hopkins and President Fiona Risk as they visited several schools in East Sutherland to present Presidential Citations to their Interact and RotaKids clubs.

First to be visited was the truly exceptional children from probably the smallest school in Scotland to have a Rotakids club - Rogart Primary.  They were overjoyed to welcome DG Keith Hopkins who came north to present them with a Presidential citation for all the work they have done in the community and beyond.  Among their many activities are the Polio Swims, Shoe Box filling, Carol Concerts, Easter Bonnet parades, home visits to the aged and much more.

The Interact club of Dornoch Academy were recognised by Rotary World Wide for their excellent work within the community and for the implementation of the principals of Rotary - Service Above Self.  District Governor Keith Hopkins travelled from Dundee to present the award and to personally thank the club President Max Bannerman and Head Teacher Tina Stones for the very positive message and image the club projects.

The third visit of the day was to The Rotakids club of Brora Primary School where DG Keith was delighted to reward their endeavour and commitment to the community shown through Christmas Carols in the square, beach cleaning, village tidy up, coffee mornings, Shoe boxes, Polio Swim, dressing down days, fund raising and support for Macmillan Nurses and many local organisations.

Completing a busy but rewarding day for DG Keith Hopkins was a visit to the Rotakids of Golpsie Primary School where he was delighted to present joint Presidents Tyler Oglesby and Phebie Greaves with a Presidential Citation for all the wonderful work their club has done during their first year. Like Rogart and Brora they have helped establish Rotakids in Sutherland as a power for good and a key part of encouraging community and leadership skills in the younger school children.  So much so that a further 4 primary schools in the county have asked the Rotary club of East Sutherland to set up new clubs and continue to spread the Rotakids ethos.
