Directions

We meet in Camden Place, the magnificent clubhouse of Chislehurst Golf Club, which was built around 1717 and was, for a while during the 1870s, the home of Napoleon III, Empress Eugenie and their son the Prince Imperial.

Chislehurst

Chislehurst is about 12 miles South East of London, and in easy reach of London and its airports by rail and car. If driving, please do not rely on your sat-nav - there is an error in the postcodes database which will direct you about a mile away, to Wilderness Road! For safety, enter the Street as Camden Park Road and, if it has that facility, search for the junction with Bromley Road.

From the M25
Take Junction 3 (A20) towards London. Take A222 towards Chislehurst and Bromley after about 2 miles. Proceed for a furthermile or so and go straight across Chislehurst Common at the traffic lights. At a mini roundabout after a further 800 yards, turn right into Camden Park Road and then right again, after 30 yards, into the driveway of the Golf Course.

From Bromley
Take the A222 towards Chislehurst and Sidcup. The Club is approximately 4 miles from Bromley. After passing Chislehurst Station on your left, proceed up Summer Hill and, at the mini roundabout, turn left into Camden Park Road. After 30 yards, turn right into the Club driveway.

By Train
We are a 10 minute walk from Chislehurst main line rail station. If travelling from Central London, take a train from London’s Charing Cross, Waterloo East or London Bridge stations (final destination normally Orpington or Sevenoaks) which depart about every 30 minutes. Chislehurst is about a 25 minute journey. Turn right as you leave the station and then turn left at the main road (Summer Hill)and walk until you reach the outskirts of Chislehurst Common (cricket pitch is on your right). Cross over Old Hill and then turn left into Camden Park Road. After 30 yards, turn right into the Club driveway.

By Air
London Biggin Hill is closest (about 3 miles) - however flights are a bit limited and there is little public transport, but taxis are generally available. London City Airport (about 10 miles) is the closest airport with regular scheduled flights and very easy to fly in and out of. Take the tube from the airport to London Bridge and follow train instructions above.  London Gatwick and London Stanstead are each about 35 miles away.  London Heathrow is West of London, and the furthest main airport from Chislehurst.  Rail links are via London, as above (allow at least 1.5 hours).  It is about 40 minutes by car from Gatwick or Stanstead, M11 or M23 and M25 traffic conditions permitting, but beware - about £40 by taxi!
