What a beautiful day it was too!! We could not have asked for a better day. Sunshine all day and not too hot.

Over 220 people took part in the walks and the club raised over £4000 for our supported causes.

DIGWYDDIADAU ELUSENNOL ROTARY

Yn ystod mis Mai trefnwyd dau ddigwyddiad elusennol llwyddiannus gan  Glwb Rotari Y Bala a Phenllyn er budd nifer o achosion da.

Sialens y Bala oedd y prif ddigwyddiad ac ymunodd dros 220 o gerddwyr. Cafwyd diwrnod ffafriol iawn o ran tywydd - dim glaw ac nid yn rhy boeth! Roedd sawl dewis o deiithiau ar y diwrnod yn amrywio o daith natur hamddenol hyd lan Llyn Tegid dan arweiniad Bill Taylor i'r "Sialens" eithaf - taith 24milltir o amgylch y Llyn yn cynnwys cwrs i ben Moel Fffenigl heb fod ymhell o gopa Aran Fawddwy! Cafwyd ymateb hynod ffafriol o du'r cerddwyr yn canmol y teithiau, y golygfeydd, y cyfarwyddyd, y stiwardio, y lluniaeth a'r gwmniaeth. Ymunodd cerddwyr  o bell ac agos. Gwelwyd nifer o Benllyn a rhai o dde Lloegr wedi dotio at harddwch naturiol ardal Penllyn. Gwelwyd erall yn dychwelyd yn rheolaidd dros sawl blwyddyn a hyn yn profi poblogrwydd y digwyddiad. Llwyddodd y "Sialens" eleni i godi dros £4 000 i achosion da. Yn ychwanegol at hyn trefnwyd Bore Coffi ddiwrnod Ffair Glamai a chyfran helaethaf  elw'r digwyddiad yn mynd i Gronfa Gwasanaeth Nyrsio Macmillan i gefnogi dioddefwyr Cancr.

Yr wythnos hon cyhoedddir sut y dosbarthwyd arian a godwyd trwy'r ddau ddigwyddiad:-   Gwasanaeth Ambiwlans Awyr Gogledd Cymru (N.W. Air Ambulance) £1 000;  Macmillan  £500; Hospis yn y Cartref (Hospice in the Home) £500;  Noddi prosiectau / gweithgaredau  ieuenctid lleol (Local youth projects)  £535; Gwasanaeth Achub Mynydd De Gwynedd (South Snowdonia Search and Rescue) £300;  Cymdeithas M.S.Society  £250; Urban Saints £200 Ymatebwyr Cyntaf (Bala First Responders) £100;  "Seren Arian"(Silver Star Charity) £100.  Yn ogystal  cyflwynwyd £400 i gronfa Bad Achub Moelfre a hyn yn cynnwys  rhodd benodol sylweddol gan un o'r cerddwyr brofodd fendith o'r gwasanaeth arbennig hwnnw. Mae £2 000 yn aros yn y Gronfa Achosion Da i'w ddosbarthu yn y dyfodol agos.

Mae'r Clwb Rotari'n ddiolchgar iawn i bawb a gyfrannodd at lwyddiant y digwyddiadau hyn:- i'r rhai fu'n cynllunio, arwain  a threfnu, i'r rhai gyfrannodd yn ymarferol at luniaeth a gwobrau, i ffermwyr yr ardal am eu cydweithrediad, i Gwmni Rheilffordd Llyn Tegid am ddarparu cyfleusterau, i stiwardiaid a goruchwylwyr ac, wrth gwrs, i bawb gefnogodd neu gymrodd ran yn y gweithgareddau. Bu'n waith caled i'r trefnwyr ond cyfiawnhawyd hynny'n llwyr gan y llwyddiant. Diolch i bawb.

Rotary Charity Activities

Recent Rotary Charity activities have proved outstanding success. The main event was "the Bala Challenge" when 220 walkers took part. The day was ideal weatherwise - dry and not too warm! The response of participants was most encouraging and appreciative of the sights, organisation, stewarding, refreshments and socialising. Walkers came from near and far - several from Penllyn and some from the South of England amazed at the natural beauty of our locality.  Many returned from previous years proving the event's appeal. The "Challenge" raised over £4000 for charity and good causes. In addition a Coffee Event was held on May Fair Day mainly in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Funds were distributed to various charities and good causes (see above) . In addition a £400 donation was made to RNLI (Moelfre, Anglesey). This included a substantial gift from one of the walkers who had experienced a family member being rescued by Moelfre Lifeboat. £2000 remains in the Good Causes fund to be distributed in the near future.

The Rotary Club is grateful to all who contributed to the events' success:- to those who planned, arranged,  led and organised; to individuals and  local businesses who contributed practically towards refreshments and prizes; to local farmers for their goodwill and cooperation; to the Bala Lakeside Railway for providing space and facilities, to all helpers and stewards and to all who took part or supported the events. It was hard work but totally justified by success. Thanks to all.
