Our speaker at the 10th Nov meeting was Sabine Hoekema, a project co-ordinator at AGE CONNECT NWC. Introduced by Aldie, Sabine, who originates from The Netherlands has been with AGE CONNECT since July 2013. She has been living and working in North Wales for 12 years. She lives in Mold with her husband and 2 Daughters.
AGE CONNECT North Wales Central is a local Charity that works to support the over 50 population of Denbighshire and Conwy. Based in Denbigh, it used to be known as Age Concern. Two years ago it changed its name, but is still delivering the same high quality services. Her project involves working with volunteers in the Denbighshire Residential Care Homes to encourage residents to speak up about their needs and wishes.
The Charity is independent with 6 offices covering . Its mission statement is to promote and protect the rights and interests of older people and to enhance their quality of life.

·· Raising public awareness of issues relating to older people.
Sabine went on to outline the various projects currently available and to ask for volunteers to help with some of their projects. Following her presentation, Sabine answered a number of questions from Rotarians andwas thanked by Gwilym.
