President Lesley Kennedy welcomed ten other members, and at the end of the meeting presented a Paul Harris Fellowship to long-serving club secretary Donald Fullarton.
Donald, who was proposed for membership of the club by local GP Dr Eric Horne, became a member in January 1973 and served as president from 1985-86.
"This is a complete and utter surprise," he said, "and I feel very honoured that my fellow members should feel me worthy of a Paul Harris Fellowship.
"Only a small number have been presented over the years, and I feel very privileged to join a list which includes such great rotarians as Walter Bryden, Charlie McCrea, Rex Cook, Bill Morrison, Ron Dunachie and Gordon Burgess."
Donald then made the draw for the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature — and pulled out Lesley's name.
