A very warm welcome from the Rotary Club of Cumbernauld, located in Central Scotland. We are a group of like-minded individuals who share a common aspiration to make the world a better place – both in our local area and beyond. We enjoy the fellowship and fun of working in a team.
Our Club was founded in 1967 and we celebrate our 50th Anniversary this year. Rotary is an international organisation with approximately 34,282 Rotary Clubs worldwide, and 1.2 million Rotarians. We are a secular organisation open to men and women, regardless of race or religion. You are never far from friends when you are a member of Rotary.
This year's Rotary International theme is “ Rotary Serving Humanity”. What a powerful challenge for us to embrace! Throughout the years our Club has grown in membership and initiated fund-raising and service projects that have endured. To name just a few of the projects we support locally: Strathcarron Hospice, Cumbernauld Gala Day, Remembrance Day Poppy Collection, and the Cumbernauld Community Memorial Peace Garden. We also provide opportunities for young people through organising competitions, training/leadership events, sponsorship and establishing links with local schools. We fund and support children who visit our area from Chernobyl, and our Club sponsors a school for the Aeta Tribe, Paco Manilla in the Philippines. As Rotarians we understand that community has a global meaning and our Club actively supports projects internationally for example the Eradication of Polio, Shelterbox, and Mary's Meals - to name just a few.
We are an active and friendly Club and we welcome new members. We meet on Wednesday evenings at Dullatur Golf Club where, in addition to our agenda, we enjoy dinner, often followed by a Speaker. Once a month our meeting becomes a Partners Evening where the partners and family of club members can also attend. We have a lot of fun and fellowship in the form of social events and visits to places of interest.
Thank you for stopping by our site. If you would like to find out more about our Club please get in touch – we look forward to meeting you!
