The 2015 Trolley Dash

The Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe held their annual pre-Christmas Trolley Dash raffle in December - with a surprise result!

We uncovered the true spirit of Christmas this year with our annual pre-Christmas charity raffle.  The holder of the winning ticket actually declined the prize - a 3 minute trolley dash around the Lutterworth branch of Waitrose - declaring that "there are others who need this food more than I".  So, instead of using the ticket for his own Christmas shopping, he donated his ticket to the Lutterworth Food Bank. As a result of this generosity, representatives of the food bank were able to browse the shelves of Waitrose and selct up to £300 of essential supplies.

Although the Food Bank were the unexpected beneficiaries of the raffle, the main beneficiaries of course was the Rainbows Children's Hospice.  An amazing £1685 was raised (from a total sales of 2300 tickets) to be donated to this worthwhile charity.

The Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe would like to thank Waitrose for their support, the winner of the raffle for his generous gesture in donating the winning ticket, and also the people of Lutterworth who once again demonstrated their generosity of spirit by supporting us.
