William Douglas

William moved to Grimsby from London in 2014.  He is an ardent supporter of Grimsby Town FC and is a season ticket holder. He is engaged to Kate whom he will marry in 2016.

He started his career in radio production in 1994 - at Ladbroke Radio - making programmes for all networks of BBC Radio ranging from Berkoff’s Macbeth to Private Passions. In 2001 he jumped ship to Myriad Productions where he oversaw the production of phone delivered audio programming for large corporations including Marsh Mclennan, BT and Ladbrokes.

In 2002 he joined Storacall Technology where he became Business Development Director and specialised in SMS services.  There he led the development, launch & management of several new mobile services. He left the company in 2015. Since then he has co-founded a start-up which seeks to launch innovative postage solutions for consumers in 2017. He is also the director of a fledgling company making a foray into property development in N E Lincs.

His interests include shooting, windsurfing and running with his dog. He also enjoys spending time on the River Thames on his boat.  


John Norman  

John served an Engineering Apprenticeship at Humber Graving Dock and Engineering Company, Immingham followed by six years as a Draughtsman/Estimator.

He joined Grimsby College in 1970 as an Engineering Lecturer and progressed through to Senior Lecturer and Management Spine member. He moved on into various management posts at Grimsby College including technical authoring of open learning materials, manager of process technology on-site operations, quality manager, project manager, estates manager, international business manager and process technology commercial manager.

He retired from Grimsby Institute in 2009 and formed an education and training consultancy delivering quality assurance, training development and assessment inspections of competence based programmes extending across a variety of sectors including oil and gas refinery installations, power stations, engineering manufacturers, production companies, construction sites, training establishments and colleges, working  mainly in the UK, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

He is the past President and Fellow of the Grimsby Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders and past Chairman and Programme Secretary of Grimsby Everyman Club.

Johns main interests are gardening and holidays!


Michael Briggs

Mike Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor (Estate Management) in 1975 and was subsequently elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - FRICS. He practiced in the Cheshire and Greater Manchester area for nearly 20 years, active in residential valuations, surveys, estate agency and auctioneering and more latterly in commercial office property agency. He became an amateur private pilot in 1970 and subsequently developed this by becoming a full flying instructor in 1980 teaching part time for the PPL, (Private Pilot Licence). Then from 1991, having qualified as a commercial pilot/instructor and flight examiner, taught full time for the commercial licence, multi engine rating and the instrument rating as necessary prerequisites to meet airline pilot standards. From 1997 to 2014 he owned and operated a commercial flight training school at Humberside Airport until retiring from full time flying and since then have acted as a part-time flying consultant and property renovator.

He married Susan in 2012 and his interests include reading, ornithology, DIY, photography, computing and walking the dog!
