Club Meeting

Thu, Sep 3rd 2015 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

P.E. James chaired the meeting as Pres. Jane could not deliver her Presidential Address due to unexpected business commitments

Due to unexpected work commitments, beyond her control, President Jane Allan was unable to attend tonight’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw to give her Presidential Address.

Senior Vice President James Gibbons chaired the meeting in Jane’s absence. David McLeod gave details of the final race of the Pigeon Derby which was from Thirsk. The winning Rotarians were Ian St John, Alan Scott, Tom Sleith, Ronnie Moore, Gordon Megahy, Hugh Graham, Charles Keeper and Jane Allan.

Past President Ian Carrol and President Elect James Gibbons were mentors at this summer's Rotary Young Leaders Award (RYLA) outward bound week on the banks of the River Tay. James spoke, briefly, on their experiences (full feedback from the young RYLArians, next week) and he then made a presentation to Ian as the RYLA “King of the Mountains”, in recognition of the fact that Ian climbed one of the peaks, behind the Ardeonaig Centre, four times in the space of two days while accompanying different groups of young people. Quite a feat!!
