111th birthday of Rotary Celebration by Twickenham RC - February 2016

Twickenham Rotary Club held a Celebration at Fulwell Golf Club

Rotary was 111 years old on 23rd February and Twickenham Rotary Club celebrated with an all American theme at Fulwell Golf Club on Monday evening. US and British flags adorned the room and the walls, red white and blue star confetti decorated the tables, Barry Buttenshaw sported his cowboy hat and check shirt and there were photos from early Rotary scolling on a TV. The meal was corned beef hash, southern fried chicken and New York cheesecake. Len Smith was his usual lively entertaining self, talking about the history of Rotary, both in the US and in Britain and Ireland, variety of Rotary Fellowships and highlights from his own 58 years with Rotary, from 1958. A super evening, very enlightening, fun and interesting. There were 5 guests from Twickenham upon Thames Club (TuT) among the 35 guests and the raffle raised £115 which Twickenham RC kindly donated to TuT for the school rebuilding project in Nepal.
