Rotary Young Writer

Writing Competition

The Prize Winners

Waterstones Bookshop in Dorchester was again the appropriate venue for the prize-giving of the local heat of Rotary Young Writer Competition on Wednesday 24th February. The four prizewinners were selected from the 80 entries by Cllr Peter Mann, assisted by Jan Jaggard, manager of Waterstones. The four winners showed exceptional talent and the judges were very impressed with the maturity of their work, especially considering their ages.
In the Junior Age Group (7 - 10 yrs), ...the winner was Khalid Miah from Sunninghill School and the runner-up was Seren Daly from Damers First School. In the Intermediate Age Group (11-13 yrs) Joni Denne-Loader was the winner with Bella Laux as runner-up. Joni and Bella are both pupils at Sunninghill School. The prizewinners received Waterstones book tokens, kindly donated by Waterstones, and a certificate and a Dictionary 4 Life from Casterbridge Rotary Club.
The Club is very grateful for the continued generous support of Jan Jaggard and staff at Waterstones and Cllr Peter Mann.
If any Dorchester Schools would like to enter the competition next year, please message us and you will be sent details when available
