A guided tour of the Scylla.

On Wednesday, 9th March, 2016, several of our members enjoyed a guided tour of the Scylla, being the largest and newest vessel of Seajacks fleet.   Once we had climbed the gangway we stepped on to the deck which was big enough to house a full size football pitch. Everything about the vessel was awe- inspiring as is the amount of technology on board.   We visited the dining hall and, complete with ear plugs, the engine room.   The living accommodation is first class with en-suite facilities.    The ship was not in the water but was on stilts in the outer harbour.   We were told that on Thursday the ship was to be raised to the full height of the legs, which meant that it would be able to be seen from many miles away.   The writer did see the ship ‘in the air’ fro m the upper esplanade at Gorleston and it really was an impressive sight.   The ship was to leave the port on Sunday heading for Holland and then to Germany for its first working session.
