Reading Abbey Golf Society

RAGS is another great social element of Reading Abbey Rotary Club.

Reading Abbey Golf Society (RAGS) typically plays 6 - 8 matches per year over the summer season, at courses in the Reading area such as

  • Sonning Golf Club
  • Hennerton Golf Club
  • Streatley and Goring
  • Bearwood Lakes
  • The Club at Mapledurham
  • Theale Golf Club
  • The Springs
  • Goring & Streatley Golf Club
  • Calcot Golf Club

A golf day typically works out like this:

  • 12 - 1pm             Single course lunch
  • 1 - 5.30pm          18 holes of golf - Stapleford Competition off full handicaps
  • 5.30pm (approx) Prize giving in the bar

If we play a morning competition, we include breakfast before or lunch afterwards.

We award two cups during the year – the Terry Simpson and the Mike Mortimer, based on the aggregate of player's Stapleford scores.

Average cost per meeting is about £35 including prize fund contributions and green fees.

Members are encouraged to bring guests to our fixtures.  Rotarians at our fellow clubs in the Reading area are often members of RAGS.

Congratulations to our winners during the 2021 season:

The Terry Simpson: Peter Webb

The Mike Mortimer: Rob Benyon
