President Andrew's "Tea Towel and Beyond" item, at tonight’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw, was about Kilpatrick McMillan the Scottish blacksmith from Dumfriesshire who invented the pedal bicycle. Andrew went on to discuss the rich heritage that is Scottish Cycling.
The first of the Club's summer season speakers was Pres. Andrew Murray who gave a very humorous account of his time whilst he worked as an internal auditor for Co-op Insurance.
He explained some of the dodges that, less than honest, insurance agents employed and the excuses that they used to try to explain their actions. Andrew’s last job with the company was a Time Management Evaluation across the thirty offices where all the claims processes were examined and timed, and, as a result, the number of employees was substantially reduced.
Jane Allan proposed the vote of thanks.
The winner of the weekly bonus ball was Hughes Lumsden.
