Rotary Club of Stirling, meeting of 25th November 2016
President Alan welcomed members to a business meeting, reporting back on the last club council meeting. We now have two candidates to put forward for next year's Euroscholar conference. Our heat of the primary school quiz will be held in the Logie theatre at Stirling university next April. At the area meeting the main topics were End Polio Now and Rotary Foundation, to both of which we have already contributed, and we were pleased to note that the size of our club is amongst the largest in the area. At our recent very successful President's night we raised £750 which was presented to ADG Alistair Spowage to be passed on to Prostate cancer Scotland.
Council had decided to contribute money to Stirling Salvation Army for their increased activities over Xmas, and to Forth Valley Scouts towards the cost of sending a group of youngsters to carry out building work in Namibia, both supported by the members. The Fife coastal walk will be on 18th June 2017, and the length of the stages has been shortened. Martin Ross announced that we now have three possible candidates for next year's RYLA camp.
Council suggested that there will be no club meeting on 23rd and 30th December and this was agreed by the members.
Next meeting 2nd December, Speaker's host Robin Sutton, Visitor’s host Bill Bryce. for further info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
