President Alan Rankin welcomed members to our Friday meeting. SVP Stewart Wilson told the club that he has had a meeting with Gardening Scotland to arrange the position of our stand this June. The lay out of the event has been changed, but our new site seems to be well placed for passing visitors. In view of the number of applicants for the RYLA camp this year, Martin Ross asked if the club would fund an extra student, and this was agreed.
Our speaker, Rotarian Derek Anderson, told us about a recent trip to Portugal, not to the Algarve for golf, but to Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto.
In glorious weather Derek and his wife found all three cities to be delightful, beautiful buildings full of history, with lots to see and excellent food, salt cod excepted. Travel was easy, in fast modern and inexpensive trains.
The vote of thanks was given by SVP Stewart Wilson. President Alan
wished Stewart well as he sets out on another five-week cycling trip to
New Zealand. For more info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
At our next meeting on 10th February, Speaker's host Jan Anderson, Visitor's host Sandy Leven.
